Around sunrise this morning, birds were detected by the NEXRAD radar located in Alma, KS. In the animation below, there are several rings that can be seen around northeast Kansas. These rings are referred to as "roost rings". This signature is observed on radar as a large number of birds leave the roost early in the morning in search for food. These rings can be seen below near Atchison, KS, Eudora, KS, Overbrook, KS and Burlingame, KS.
